FIBRANO | Li&Co AG
We at LICO - Switzerland believe it is time to think sustainability from the beginning to the end and to realize it in all its facets. With LICO Fibrano® we have developed a plastic-free natural floor that focuses on renewable materials such as wood, cork, natural fibers, natural latex and other natural raw materials. In addition, during the product development process, particular importance was given to sustainable circular economy (second-life).
The Characteristics
Fibrano consists of renewable recycled natural fibers. The raw materials are sourced from (Central) Europe, resulting in short transport distances - also to our end customers, which are > 90% in Central Europe. Lico follows a zero-waste policy in production; that means every gram of raw material is re-integrated into the production process.
Our production in Switzerland is completely energy self-sufficient; thanks to photovoltaic systems and waste recycling we produce more energy than we need. With the 2nd Life concept we even go one step further: used floors are not just thrown away or burned by the end customer, but are taken up again thanks to the click system (no gluing necessary) to make a new product out of it in a resource and energy saving way (2nd life).
Fibrano meets all requirements of the Blue Angel, Floor Score, Green Guard Gold, PEFC, etc.
Furthermore, the product is currently undergoing certification for Nordic Swan as well as EPD (Enviromental product declaration).
Fibrano is made with > 90% recycled natural fibers, such as wood, cork and other natural materials like natural latex and vegetable fats. We take care to generate the shortest possible transport routes (mainly Central Europe). In addition, we offer the Lico 2nd Life concept.
The innovative Second Life process opens up new possibilities in the field of sustainability and authentic recycling. If the old floor has worn out, or if there is a wish for a new design, the clicked-out floor is sent back to LICO by the end customer via the retailer and receives a defined compensation for it. Here, the old design is sanded off the floor panels, which are then re-primed, digitally printed and coated.
Afterwards, the floor panels are newly profiled all around. Finally, the new, high-quality floor is reintroduced to the market. In this way, we have extended a resource- and energy-saving concept into a closed cycle. The Lico 2nd Life concept has received awards among others from the DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council).
The product is manufactured in Switzerland, under the strictest social criteria. Even the raw materials come to > 99% from Europe, so that these productions can also be well controlled and supervised.
With 110 employees, Lico is an important employer in an otherwise structurally weak peripheral area in the border triangle (Switzerland/Italy(South Tyrol)/Austria).
