Hywood is a completely new product category
Consumers want to be able to consume with a clear conscience. For this profound sustainability is important. But even more important to the consumer today is that the products in his home create a healthy living environment for himself and his family. For both wood as a material offers a superior solution.
Almost 40 % of consumers want a wooden floor at the beginning of their customer journey - but in the end most of them decide otherwise. The two main reasons for this: the higher price of a wood floor but even more importantly the consumer's belief that a wood floor might be too sensitive and that it has only a limited wear resistance.
With Hywood we have created a hybrid floor that brings together the consumer's desired qualities in terms of wear resitance on the one hand and the longing for wood, authenticity, naturalness and healthy living on the other. The combination of several innovative technologies is what makes Hywood stand out.
At the core is on the Woodpowder technology: Pressed under extreme pressure and with high temperature the precious realwood top layer, the Wood-Powder and the highly water-resistant core board are penetrated by the resin components in the powder and fuse to form a functional composite. This creates the high wear resistance and protects Hywood against impacts, pressure, scratches and microscratches.
Hywood is also water-resistant (AquaSeal technology) and dirt-proof (NatureProtec technology), so that Hywood, as a real wood floor, is on a par with floors recognised for wear resistance (laminate, design floors and tiles).
Hywood is nature's design floor! Hywood is the future of wooden flooring.
Hywood is sustainable in many ways:
Firstly it is made of almost 100% natural wood and thus serves as a carbon store - 40 sqm of Hywood store as much CO2 as a family house emits in one year for heating.
Further the wood used comes from sustainable forestry. This is guaranteed by the FSC certification. In addition in recycling we make out of old Hywood new Hywood - it is recyclable without downcycling. Hywood is recyclable and environmentally friendly due to the composition of the materials. It is a circular product - which means Hywood can be easily recycled and made into new Hywood flooring.
The clever product structure saves the valuable resource of precious wood: 10 times the amount of Hywood can be produced from one tree compared to conventional parquet. The unique Woodpowder technology also allows the use of precious wood layers with wood characteristics (cracks, large knots) that could not be used at all with normal wood floors. With ash and walnut Hywood offers noble wood species that are neither available in the required wood quality nor affordable in the parquet sector.
Hywood is certified with the Blue Angel and ECO label - for the product and the production processes. The product and ter Hürne are also FSC® and PEFC™ certified and support ecological and social aspects of a fully traceable and recognised sustainable forestry.
The EU's Green Deal envisages five areas where action must be taken. These include transport and heating, of course, but also the production and use of building materials. So we need products that are better suited to the requirements of the future than the current product ranges. In a few years, every product will have to justify its existence at this level - Hywood already meets these criteria today.
Hywood is a low-emission product and free of harmful substances which is confirmed by the Eco-Label and the Blue Angel among others. Since Hywood consists of almost 100% real wood, it has a positive effect on the indoor air quality.
In addition Hywood is allergy-friendly due to its antibacterial properties and creates a hygienic feel-good atmosphere. Hywood does not provide a habitat for mites and dust/dirt does not find a permanent hold on the surface due to the complete surface protection reaching even into the wood pores.
Hywood is particularly durable due to its material efficiency and clever product construction. The interplay of several technologies - centred on the Wood-Powder technology - is one of the innovations that makes the floor particularly robust and water-resistant. With the extreme pressure and heat of the production process the precious wood top layer, the Wood-Powder and the water-resistant wood fibre based carrier board are penetrated by the resin components contained in the Wood-Powder and fused together to form a functional composite. The result is a composite that provides the special durability of the floor.
The second important performer is the ClickitEasy Pro click connection which prevents water from penetrating the joints between flooring planks. The special shape of the profiling guarantees a further moisture protection. Thus Hywood offers professional protection against moisture for at least 24 hours (following the NALFA test).
The floor also gets its robust nature from the innovative Nature Protec surface coating. This is a special sealant that makes Hywood resistant to dirt and micro-scratches. Dirt cannot work its way into the pores or be trapped in the pores by dirty mopping water as every wood pore is completely protected down to the bottom of the pores.
Nevertheless Hywood retains the naturally beautiful and attractive feel of real wood.
Last but not least Hywood is a circular product. From old/used Hywood we create new Hywood without downcycling. The mixture in Hywood flooring of resins and wood offers an economically attractive advantage of using a used Hywood floor for the production of a new Hywood floor.
Taken together these benefits contribute to a particularly long product life cycle and thus have a positive effect on the environment. The creation from renewable raw materials (wood), the efficient use of the scarce resource precious wood, the function as a carbon store and the circularity perspective of the product make Hywood a superior sustainable product - Made in Germany.
