Paprfloor – Papering over problems, but in a good way
The NuThinkers of the startup paprfloor had a single goal in mind: to make trade fairs more sustainable and environmentally friendly. And they did this from the ground up, by focusing on trade fair floor coverings which, despite their costliness, have never enjoyed a long run. The startup founders from the German city of Weil der Stadt soon discovered the material with the most favorable conditions for a sustainable alternative product: recycled paper. However, the result is no paper tiger.

Paprfloor developed its business idea in cooperation with a paper manufacturer, with the startup now in a position to make its sustainable flooring available in a range of different qualities for use at trade fairs worldwide. Paprfloor floors are specially designed for temporary use and are easy to lay; their makers are confident their special charm will continue to grow and leave a lasting impression on trade fair visitors. But even more importantly: According to the developers, every square meter of paprfloor saves around 10 kilograms of CO2 compared to conventional tradeshow floor coverings.
Sustainable floor coverings are no paper tiger
To create the most sustainable floor coverings for temporary use, thus helping avoid waste and substantially reducing the carbon footprint, paprfloor uses a material that consists of 100 percent recycled paper – at a comparable price. But so much commitment to the environment on the part of paprfloor doesn’t mean their products need to be less visually attractive, and visitors can see for themselves at DOMOTEX 2020 how quickly, easily and inexpensively paprfloor can be individually printed and designed. With paprfloor, any stand or interior design concept can be implemented, because it can not only be thoroughly individualized as a floor covering, but thanks to its flexibility, can also be adapted to fit in with its design surroundings.
Adding fire protection to the mix
And finally, paprfloor leaves nothing to be desired when it comes to fire protection: paprfloor has been intensively tested and is certified for fire protection in accordance with the latest German regulations (B1). Nothing stands in the way of its use in public spaces, especially since paprfloor has been usability-tested by a number of different institutes and has received two special material awards and a nomination for the German Ecodesign Award. So it not only looks good on paper – paprfloor is here to stay.
